Google is collaborating with two teams in India, AnthroKrishi and Google Partner Innovation, to develop AI technologies to address sustainability in agriculture. Google’s AI-powered technologies are aimed at utilizing India’s agricultural data, particularly satellite imagery and machine learning systems, to create meaningful insights. The primary focus of the initiative is to create a unified “landscape understanding,” which can determine the acreage of farm fields, forest and woodland areas, and identify irrigation structures towards developing tools for drought preparedness. India’s agricultural system is vital not only to the country but also to the rest of the world. However, it is facing significant challenges due to climate change and unsustainable farming practices. These challenges can be mitigated through efficient crop yield and the use of AI-powered solutions for sustainable agriculture.
