Google Health has signed a commercial partnership with iCAD, which will develop Google Health’s mammography AI technology for use in a clinical setting to address challenges in breast cancer screening including access, accuracy, patient experience and clinician workload. The partnership aims to make AI-based tools accessible in underserved regions where infrastructure challenges may constrain the ability to offer breast cancer screenings. The collaboration with iCAD marks an inflection point in the mammography work of Google Health, which has invested in research and testing to prove that AI technology can perform better than radiologists in identifying signals of breast cancer.
