Starting from September 15th, Google will allow NFT gaming ads as long as they do not promote gambling content. Advertisers must adhere to Google’s gambling and games policy, obtain the necessary Google Ads certification, and meet specific requirements. Approved NFT game examples include those that allow players to purchase in-game items such as virtual clothing and weapons to enhance their experience. This change opens up new marketing opportunities for advertisers to target a previously untapped audience. However, Google will still ban game ads that involve wagering or staking NFTs for real-world value, promote social casino games that reward NFTs, or advertise “real money gambling” destinations. Violations of the policy will be warned before any account suspension. This update aligns with Google’s efforts to provide clearer guidelines for advertising blockchain-based games with NFTs.
