A new study by Authoritas found that AI-generated answers in Google’s Search Generative Experience (SGE) do not match any links from the top 10 Google organic search results 93.8% of the time, especially for commercial keywords. This indicates that organic traffic to websites may reduce significantly. However, websites that don’t reach the top 10 of Google’s organic results might be able to appear as links within SGE. The study collected data for 1,000 commercial keywords across 10 categories. 86.8% of the keywords showed SGE results, with the “Generate” button version appearing more frequently than the “Show more” button format.
